I.    BACKGROUND

They say that the Philippines is not a very good place to live in, at least for some Filipinos who grew tired of the hopelessness trend in the country.  Many pinoy’s try to finish college or at least a vocational degree and later on apply to work abroad where they say there is greener pasture and to provide a better life for their family left at home.

We cannot blame them for this is the harsh reality of life.  Cost of goods are high, educational system is being commercialized, and in general the rich becomes richer and the poor becomes poorer.  Many people become individualistic and does not care anymore about others while many sees volunteerism and making a difference and even joining organization, a waste of time.

In times of hopelessness and tiredness of the way of life and in being a Filipino, it is unaware to most of us that there are a majority and we still believe a majority of pinoy’s who still believe that this country has high hopes and who believes that doing something in their ordinary way of doing it is still a part of their daily life.

In this regard we think that we owe to give these ordinary people not commonly seen, nor publicized by media nor given much attention the credit for contributing in their simple way positive actions and change to the country.

 

II.    OBJECTIVES

1. To commend common Filipinos doing a good deed and making a difference.
2. To encourage other people to emulate them.
3. To inform the general public that it is worth it to be a Filipino.
4. To raise the Pinoy spirit and love for country and fellowmen.
5. To generate general public awareness.

IV.    EXPECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

1. Document a list of common people making a difference that will serve as a reference and encouragement for other people to emulate.
2. Generate general public awareness of good citizenship.

V.    INDICATORS OF ACHIEVEMENT

1.    At least 200 individuals have been given an award/pin and documented.
2.1    Publication in at least 1 major newspaper
2.2    Interview regarding the project.
3.1.    Emulation of the project by other organizations and agencies.

VI.    MAIN ACTIVITIES

1.    Search for Partners for the Project (August – September 2007)

Project partners will be search so as to reach a maximum target audience and enable publication of the results of the project.  Funding partnership for the pins which will be given is also needed.

2.    Conduct of OKEY KA, PINOY KA (October to January 2008)

The project will start on October 2007 and will be implemented in all BROOD chapters nationwide.  The mechanics of the project is as follows:

a.    A certain number of pins will be available for awarding to each of the chapter of the organizations.
b.    The pins will then be given to members.
c.    Members of the chapter will scout for deeds made by common people which are commendable and then award them the pins.  They will also get the complete name, address and contact details of the person.
d.    No award/pin will be given to relative of the member awarding the pin to the third degree of family relationship.
e.    The project will run from October 2007 up to February 2008.

3.    Awarding and Recognition (February 2008). 

The list of those awarded pins for the project will be tabulated and will be placed in the database.  It will be published in the website of the organization, it’s newsletter and posters placed in designated areas.
