Brotherhood of Destiny (BROOD) together with UNESCO, Children of the Earth and other organizing partners make the 1st World Creative Youth Forum 2009 happen here in the Philippines. It was dated May 5, 2009 to May 10, 2009 at University of the Philippines-National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) and Expo-Centro, Cubao.
The 1st Creative Youth Forum (WCYF) 2009 is a historical moment of culmination of years of planning and keeping in touch with the needs worldwide to promote the United Nation’s Decade of Education for Sustainable Development for 2005-2014. With the theme of Education for Sustainable Development, WCYF also have several sub-themes which include: Peace and Human Rights, Climate Change, Sustainable Lifestyle, Social Entrepreneurship and Ethical Living & Technology. Sustainable development which aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that needs can be met not only in the present but also for the future generations.

The delegation was composed of International and Local Youth Leaders that need to addressed the call for action not only here in our country but as well as in the whole world. Having different experiences and critical situations in their different regions motivated them to act and do a move.
The forum that focused on the pressing issues makes its quest for development. Three such predicaments this Forum is concerned about are peace/conflict resolution, sustainable development and the environment. Conflict resolution aimed to put to rest any form of tensions among nations, tribes and even people. Conflicts span from those in the international arena to the diminutive unit of the society, the family. The forum aimed to foster understanding on conflicts as well as efforts to empower young people to actively participate in the efforts for community action to achieve peace. And of course to have deeper understanding in what was really happening in our environment.
The youth as the delegates makes its importance that in their young blood the concern for our sustainable earth was in them. The call for action together with their different organizations when they return to their respective places is the big possibility to achieve sustainable development. Being quoted by Dr. Jose P. Rizal that “The youth is the hope of our fatherland”, has significance on what the World Creative Youth Forum wants to imply that if the actions comes from the young and continue until they became old, will bring a big impact in our society, country and the whole world. To continue living in a sustainable way and having a sustainable development is the key for us to have a better living and to survive in the different dilemmas happening today.
The significance of the event is evidently based on the alarming situations and issues we are facing today. We have experiencing peace conflict, poverty, environmental issues such as wild fires in grasslands and rangelands, mudslides, mudflows, droughts, severe flooding, tropical cyclones, forest fires, heat waves, heavy downpours, torrential rains due to climate change which affects the life of every human being. There is also the H1N1 known as Swine Flu Virus. Because of these, the world is in its crucial situation. That’s why the World Creative Youth Forum 2009 is one of the answers in these problems. Educating the youth and doing a collaborative action makes us realize and achieve our goals.
Considering the relevance of WCYF in the society nowadays, it is believe that this event will have an innovative, proactive solutions to address the issues of peace, climate change, sustainable lifestyle, renewable energy and entrepreneurship among others, empowering the youth who are and will be parents and the leaders of the future generation in politics, school and business among others with information, skills and capacity on the different sub-themes, altering perception of participant’s in order to develop interdependence not only externally but internally by building a common world understanding and culture of peace, creating a platform to allow creative solutions for responsible communities and sharing existing successful working models by presenting their hands-on experiences.
