Youth AIDS Filipinas Alliance (YAFA) is a non-stock, non-profit youth organization guided by the principle of greater and meaningful involvement of people living with HIV (GIPA/MIPA principle) set by the Paris Declaration in 1994 is organizing the 1st Cebu Youth Assembly on HIV and AIDS. In it's advocacy to support its chapters and their member's advocacy, BROOD supports this endeavor by YAFA through Leo Christian Lauzon, BROOD Officer in Charge for the BROOD UP-Tacloban Chapter who is also the Regional Director for YAFA Eastern Visayas.  This year, YAFA is launching our two (2) Regional Chapters from Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas in Cebu City and Tacloban City respectively. In conjunction with the launching, we will be conducting the Youth Assembly on HIV & AIDS to talk about the recent developments on HIV and AIDS and have some young HIV+ Filipinos to speak about their experiences

 

YAFA is now recently joined by both HIV+ and HIV- volunteers. We believe that we can be successful in combating HIV in our country if both HIV+ and HIV- will collaborate to help eliminate stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV and to give better understanding of the realities of HIV and AIDS as it affects young people.

Also, invited was Ms. Emee Lei Albano, UNFPA Youth Advocate. The HIV & AIDS Youth Assembly will be conducted on August 15 in University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC) and August 18 in Cebu Normal University (CNU).

 

YAFA is raising funds for the future programs of YAFA which include HIV & AIDS stigma reduction trainings, STI prevention programs, youth facilitator/peer educator training program, research on HIV & AIDS, sexuality & reproductive health, free professional consultations and other programs & projects in relation to HIV & AIDS and the Filipino youth.
