A CALL FOR PEACE… A CALL TO ACTION!
(Official Statement on the Current Middle East Crisis)
The
recent turmoil in the Middle East between Israel and Hizballah in
Lebanon and the increasing atrocity between Israel and Palestine in the
Gaza Strip and spreading of religious and ethnic intolerance among
these nations had reached a very alarming level. In this regard
Brotherhood of Destiny, Inc. (BROOD), as an organization whose main aim
is to help, serve and protect oneself, family and the society and with
International stakeholders and members call on all sides to stop the
atrocities and resolves their differences peacefully.
We condemn
the recent wave of attacks by Israel to both Lebanon and Israel as an
act of supremacy and cleansing of perceived enemies and threat to its
State. We condemn their disregard for the United Nations and the
International community and their violation of the sovereignty of these
nations.
We condemn the support of the United States Government
and their inaction in stopping the conflict and instead justifying it
as a legitimate defensive action by Israel wherein it cannot be called
defensive since they are attacking and invading a sovereign nation.
Israel should have issued a diplomatic protest to the United Nations
regarding the kidnapping of two of its soldiers rather than engage in a
ravage of attacks against a sovereign state.
We likewise condemn
the actions made by militants and other extremists who use acts of
terrorism and had killed countless civilians and innocent citizens
along the process and along the justification of a Holy War. We
condemn suicide bombings and attacks aimed at innocent people be it
Muslim, Christian or any other person from any religion. We call on
these actions to stop and for the perpetrators to be punished and
brought to justice.
We call on the United Nations to do its
mandate to be a mediator of peace and to protect sovereign nations from
aggression. Likewise we call on the International Community including
the Philippines to demand from Israel and Lebanon as well as Palestine
to act peacefully on their differences.
As an organization, we
members of Brotherhood of Destiny, Inc. (BROOD) express solidarity and
oneness among the innocent civilians who are suffering from the ravages
of war, to those who had been victims of misunderstanding and selfless
acts of a few people advancing their own interests. We will continue
to do in our very own way actions that will promote peace and address
causes which disrupts it.
The international civil society and
social movements are raising their voiceand mobilizing throughout the
world not only to express their indefectiblesolidarity with the
Lebanese people, but also to build a huge internationalbarrier against
the global war ofre-colonization of the world.
We are demanding together with other organizations:
- An immediate and unconditional cease-fire, in Lebanon as well as in the Palestinian Occupied Territories!
- The implementation of full sovereignty to Lebanon and the national rights of the Palestinian people!
- No NATO forces on the Lebanese territory!
We
support the call of the international solidarity delegation in Lebanon
for an international day of protest and solidarity on August 12th.
The
world has to face a huge reality: some wars are caused by simple
misunderstandings of people that can be resolved by talking and taking
action of what went wrong and make better things for each other to
survive. When we understand this, it will lead us to peace.
Signed,
Brotherhood of Destiny, Inc. (BROOD)

Though
far from actually resolving the roots of
the conflict we join the world in applauding the Ceasfire which was
brokered by the United Nations to hault the fighting in Lebanon and
save hundred of people especially children from further suffering from
this war of indifference and intollerance. We thank all of those
who have signed and supported the Ceasefire Campaign and also all our members who
have supported our position statement.

ON THE ISRAEL-LEBANON BORDER - Hundreds of Israeli soldiers walked out
of Lebanon on Tuesday — some smiling broadly and pumping their fists,
others weeping or carrying wounded comrades — as a cease-fire with
Hezbollah solidified after a shaky start. The process was expected to
accelerate over the coming days. The international community
looked to build a U.N. peacekeeping force for south Lebanon, but it
remained unclear how quickly such a force could be deployed. The
guerrillas' patrons,Syria and Iran, proclaimed that Hezbollah won its
fight with Israel — claims the Bush administration dismissed as
shameful blustering.
